Wallet drainer
What is Wallet drainer? Plain-language definition from the CybrCrime Intel Library.
A wallet drainer is a malicious website or script designed to empty crypto wallets. Victims are lured through fake airdrops promising free tokens, fake NFT launches, copies of popular crypto sites, hacked social media accounts or search ads. When the victim connects their wallet, the site asks them to sign a transaction or grant an approval. The request may look harmless, but it can give the attacker permission to move tokens out of the wallet. Drainers are sold as ready-made kits to criminals. Protect yourself by reaching crypto sites only through bookmarks, reading every signature request, avoiding unlimited approvals, and reviewing and revoking old approvals.
