Voice cloning

What is Voice cloning? Plain-language definition from the CybrCrime Intel Library.

Voice cloning is using AI to copy someone's voice so it can say anything the scammer types. Modern tools can do this from a few seconds of audio, taken from social media videos, voicemail greetings or a short phone call. Criminals use cloned voices for family emergency scams, where a "grandchild" calls in tears asking for money, and to impersonate managers approving payments. The voice may sound completely real, so do not rely on it. Agree a family safe word in person, hang up and call the person back on their usual number, and be wary of any call that combines urgency, secrecy and money.
