Typosquatting

What is Typosquatting? Plain-language definition from the CybrCrime Intel Library.

Typosquatting is registering web addresses that are small misspellings or lookalikes of real ones, to catch people who mistype or misread. Examples include gooogle.com, rnicrosoft.com (with "rn" imitating "m"), paypa1.com with the number one, or yourbank-login.com with extra words. Some use different endings like .co instead of .com, or foreign-alphabet letters that look identical to English ones. Typosquatted sites may host fake login pages, fake shops or malware downloads. Defend yourself by using bookmarks and official apps, reading the domain carefully before logging in, and noticing when your password manager does not offer to fill in a password.
