Phishing
What is Phishing? Plain-language definition from the CybrCrime Intel Library.
Phishing is a type of scam where criminals send fake messages pretending to be a trusted company or person to trick you into clicking a link, opening an attachment, entering a password, sharing a code or sending money. It can arrive by email, text message (smishing), phone call (vishing), social media or chat apps. Common lures include parcel delivery fees, unpaid tolls, locked accounts, shared documents, prizes and urgent requests from a boss. Warning signs include urgency, fear, unusual payment methods and links that do not match the real company. The safest habit is to not log in or pay from links in unexpected messages; open the official app or type the address yourself.
