Internet of Things (IoT)

What is Internet of Things (IoT)? Plain-language definition from the CybrCrime Intel Library.

The Internet of Things, or IoT, means everyday objects that connect to the internet: smart TVs, speakers, doorbells, security cameras, baby monitors, plugs, light bulbs, thermostats, fitness trackers and even fridges. They are convenient, but many are cheap, rarely updated, and shipped with weak settings, making them easy targets. A hacked device might let someone watch a camera, or quietly join a botnet. To stay safer, change default passwords, turn on updates, use two-step verification in the device's app, put smart devices on a guest network, and choose brands that promise security updates for several years.
