Fake online store

What is Fake online store? Plain-language definition from the CybrCrime Intel Library.

A fake online store is a website that looks like a real shop but exists to take your money or card details. Fake stores are commonly promoted through social media ads and offer branded goods at huge discounts, sold-out items in stock, or "closing down" sales. After payment, nothing arrives, or a cheap counterfeit does. Warning signs include a recently registered domain, no real contact address, copied or suspiciously perfect reviews, grammar errors, and requests to pay by bank transfer, gift card or cryptocurrency. Research unfamiliar shops before buying, search the name with "scam" or "reviews", and pay by credit card so you can request a chargeback if needed.
