BYOD (bring your own device)

What is BYOD (bring your own device)? Plain-language definition from the CybrCrime Intel Library.

BYOD stands for bring your own device. It describes using your personal phone, tablet or laptop for work, such as checking work email or joining work chats. Organisations that allow BYOD usually require a management app or a work profile. This creates a separate, protected area for work apps and data, lets the organisation enforce basics like a screen lock and updates, and allows IT to remove only work data if the device is lost or you leave the job, without touching your personal photos and messages. In return, keep the device updated, locked with a PIN or biometrics, and do not share the work profile with family members.
