Backup

What is Backup? Plain-language definition from the CybrCrime Intel Library.

A backup is a copy of your important files, such as photos, documents and contacts, kept somewhere other than the original device. If your phone or computer breaks, is lost or stolen, or is hit by ransomware, a backup lets you get your files back. Backups can go to an external hard drive, a USB stick, or a cloud service such as iCloud, Google Drive or OneDrive. The best backups run automatically and regularly. Keep at least one copy disconnected or protected from changes so malware cannot reach it, and test now and then by restoring a file, because a backup that has never been tested might not work.
